At The Shires Tutoring Company, we believe great tutors change lives.

 

We’re looking for passionate, knowledgeable individuals who love helping students grow—whether that’s mastering calculus, perfecting their game, or expressing themselves through art. As part of our team, you’ll join a community dedicated to excellence, mentorship, and meaningful impact.

You would need to live in or near a college town, where all or most of your tutoring would take place, but online tutoring is also a possibility if it is in the best interests of the student.   

 

And we believe academic success shouldn't come at the expense of passions in arts and athletics—so we support all three! As a tutor, you can choose to teach whatever interests you most and any combination you wish in academics, arts, and sports.

Q. Who can apply to become a tutor?

 

We're looking for college students or recent graduates who live in or near a college town, are reliable and communicative, and are passionate about teaching — whether in academics, athletics, or the arts. You don't need formal teaching experience, but you should be genuinely skilled in and enthusiastic about what you'd be teaching.

 

Q. What subjects can I tutor?

 

Whatever you're good at. We support academics (math, science, English, history, languages, test prep), athletics (tennis, soccer, lacrosse, etc.), and arts (drawing, painting, piano, theater, creative writing, and more). You choose the combination that fits your skills and interests.

Q. How does scheduling work?

 

Hours are flexible — you work around your own schedule. Sessions typically take place on or near campus, at a library, or at a venue in your college town, with online tutoring also available.
