I am a junior at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, studying biochemistry and neuroscience on the pre-health track. I have a long-standing passion for teaching and mentoring, and I genuinely enjoy helping students grow academically while building confidence in their abilities. I began tutoring in high school, working with students both inside and outside my school in subjects such as math, history, and essay writing. In college, I expanded my experience through Varsity Tutors, where I have worked with students of varying ages and skill levels, teaching AP Economics, middle school math, and English. In every setting, my goal has been the same: to meet students where they are, identify areas of difficulty, and explain concepts in a clear, approachable way. Over time, students consistently show meaningful improvement, both in academic performance and in confidence. I bring a strong academic foundation across STEM and humanities subjects, allowing me to help students not only understand course material, but also develop effective study habits, problem-solving strategies, and organizational skills that carry over across subjects. In addition to academic tutoring, I am also interested in coaching soccer. I have played since the age of five and have extensive experience competing at a high level, and I am excited to share that with others! Tutoring is an extremely rewarding endeavor for me, and I am committed to creating a supportive, structured, and encouraging learning environment for every student. I am excited to continue my teaching experience through Shires and to help students reach their academic and personal goals.

Ahrav

Dartmouth College, Class of 2009, majoring in Mechanical Engineering and Statistics

Tutoring subjects:

Math, Statistics, and Physics

Test results:

AP Scores: Chemistry (5), Statistics (5), US History (5)

Hi! My name is Ahrav, and I'm studying Mechanical Engineering and Statistics at Dartmouth. I'll be tutoring all types of math, statistics, and physics. I earned the Jack Byrne Scholarship in Mathematics at Dartmouth. I've been interested in teaching and pedagogy for a long time and am looking forward to working with Shires. In high school, I started a tutoring service to help middle school kids with special needs better transition into high school classes, and I also worked at an EdTech startup developing learning engagement software. I had the chance to participate in pedagogical research at Boston University and figure out how students can ask the most effective questions to instructors. In college, I was a calculus tutor for freshmen and served as a teaching assistant in the Engineering department. Drawing on these experiences, my goal is to establish a strong, basic foundation in difficult concepts and equip students with the right problem-solving approach to work through difficult questions on their own.
