Hello! My name is Maeve Stott and I am a freshman (Class of 2029) at Davidson College. I am planning to major in Chemistry on the pre-med track, with a minor in French.  I have a strong academic background in math and science and can confidently tutor K–12 students in math, chemistry, and physics. I have also been learning French for eight years, and can tutor beginner French. In high school, I was an embedded tutor for honors chemistry after taking honors chemistry my sophomore year and AP chemistry my junior year. In high school, I took AP Physics 1, AP Chemistry, AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, AP Psychology, AP European History, and AP US History.  I have worked as a summer camp counselor for three years and really enjoy working with students, building connections, and helping them grow.  Outside of the classroom, I love playing sports, being outside, and reading. I played varsity volleyball, soccer, and basketball in high school, and at Davidson, I am on the club Volleyball and Soccer teams.  As a tutor and a student, I believe that confidence is very important, so one of my biggest goals is to help students gain confidence in their leaning. This means not just learning the topics, but building problem-solving and critical-thinking skills that allow students to feel comfortable attempting new materials.

Hi! My name is Ana, and I am a junior at Davidson College studying Biology on the pre-med track. I love all things STEM, including Biology, Anatomy, and Psychology. In addition to science, I am a fluent Spanish speaker and am comfortable tutoring all levels of Spanish. I can also tutor mathematics up to pre-calculus and support students in Language and Literature courses. I especially enjoy literary analysis and brainstorming ideas to help students craft meaningful, well-structured essays. I have experience working with children and students of all ages, both in and out of the classroom. In academic settings, I have served as an Assistant Teacher for the Hispanic Studies Department at Davidson College, where I led small groups of 5–10 college students during 50-minute sessions. As a member of the National Spanish Honor Society, I also tutored high school students in Spanish 3 through AP Spanish Literature. Outside the classroom, I have babysat and nannied children ranging from 6 months to 10 years old since I was 16. I have also worked as a catechist, teaching fourth-grade students. Additionally, I regularly support my two younger siblings with Biology concepts and English essay workshops! I took nine AP courses in high school and continue to challenge myself academically at Davidson, which has given me strong experience balancing demanding coursework. I can help students not only understand material but also develop effective study plans/strategies and confidence.  Beyond academics, I like playing tennis and have recently joined the pickleball craze. I am also on the Davidson College Communications team where I create social media content for the college. I love dabbling in ceramics, and this may tie into my interests in medicine as well, since I want to become an OB-GYN or pursue general surgery, both fields that involve working hands-on with physical material, just like clay! I look forward to working with students in individual or small-group sessions who share an interest in STEM, Spanish, reading, or all of the above. I’m passionate about passing on knowledge, not just in specific subjects, but also in the skills and preparation needed to succeed across courses.

Lindsey

Davidson College, Class of 2029, double-majoring in Educational Studies and Psychology

Tutoring subjects:

Pre-K through 5th grade (all subjects), especially reading comprehension and writing

Hello! My name is Lindsey, and I am a freshman at Davidson College (Class of 2029), double-majoring in Educational Studies and Psychology. I offer tutoring for Pre-K through 5th grade in all subject areas, with particular experience supporting students in reading comprehension and writing development. I have worked directly with young students to strengthen literacy skills, build foundational academic habits, and grow confidence in their own abilities as learners. My experience includes piloting a tutoring program for a local preschool in Davidson, where I worked one-on-one and in small groups to support early learning goals. In addition, I have three years of experience as a summer camp counselor and babysitter, giving me extensive hands-on experience managing diverse learning styles, maintaining engagement, and creating a safe, encouraging environment for children. Through both my education and practical experience, I strongly believe in fostering confidence as the foundation for academic success. I focus on helping students feel capable and motivated, while building positive, trusting relationships that encourage curiosity and a genuine eagerness to learn. My coursework in Educational Studies and Psychology actively informs my tutoring approach, as I study effective methods for long-term learning, knowledge retention, and keeping children engaged. In addition to Pre-K through 5th grade tutoring, I offer essay editing and writing support for older students, including college application essays and overall writing mechanics. I also have 12 years of experience playing piano and am confident teaching beginner-level piano skills to students interested in music. I look forward to meeting your family and supporting your child’s academic growth with care, patience, and personalized attention.
