Test results:

AP Scores: Biology (4), English Language and Comp (5), English Literature (5), Microeconomics (3), Psychology (3), Spanish Language and Culture (5), Spanish Literature and Culture (4), United States Government and Politics (3), United States History (4)

Hi! My name is Ana, and I am a junior at Davidson College studying Biology on the pre-med track. I love all things STEM, including Biology, Anatomy, and Psychology. In addition to science, I am a fluent Spanish speaker and am comfortable tutoring all levels of Spanish. I can also tutor mathematics up to pre-calculus and support students in Language and Literature courses. I especially enjoy literary analysis and brainstorming ideas to help students craft meaningful, well-structured essays. I have experience working with children and students of all ages, both in and out of the classroom. In academic settings, I have served as an Assistant Teacher for the Hispanic Studies Department at Davidson College, where I led small groups of 5–10 college students during 50-minute sessions. As a member of the National Spanish Honor Society, I also tutored high school students in Spanish 3 through AP Spanish Literature. Outside the classroom, I have babysat and nannied children ranging from 6 months to 10 years old since I was 16. I have also worked as a catechist, teaching fourth-grade students. Additionally, I regularly support my two younger siblings with Biology concepts and English essay workshops! I took nine AP courses in high school and continue to challenge myself academically at Davidson, which has given me strong experience balancing demanding coursework. I can help students not only understand material but also develop effective study plans/strategies and confidence.  Beyond academics, I like playing tennis and have recently joined the pickleball craze. I am also on the Davidson College Communications team where I create social media content for the college. I love dabbling in ceramics, and this may tie into my interests in medicine as well, since I want to become an OB-GYN or pursue general surgery, both fields that involve working hands-on with physical material, just like clay! I look forward to working with students in individual or small-group sessions who share an interest in STEM, Spanish, reading, or all of the above. I’m passionate about passing on knowledge, not just in specific subjects, but also in the skills and preparation needed to succeed across courses.

Davidson College, Class of 2027, majoring in Psychology

Tutoring subjects:

English, Psychology, and Soccer (I’m on Varsity at Davidson)

I am a Division I student-athlete at Davidson College with experience tutoring across a wide range of academic subjects. I provide K–12 English and Spanish support, writing instruction, ACT preparation, and K–10 math, physics, and natural sciences tutoring. My approach emphasizes clear explanations, structured goal-setting, and building student confidence. I am fully bilingual in Spanish and English and completed a K–12 Dual Language Immersion program. Building on my studies in Psychology and Neuroscience at Davidson, I have worked with children in tutoring and childcare settings who experience ADHD and anxiety. I use evidence-informed behavioral and emotional regulation strategies, including structured routines, task scaffolding, transition support, and executive functioning coaching. I incorporate anxiety-reduction techniques such as predictability, grounding, and reassurance to help students regulate emotions and prevent escalation. I also use positive reinforcement and redirection to support impulse control and sustained attention. In addition to academic tutoring, I provide soccer training and skill development, drawing on my experience as a Division I athlete and youth coach. I have served as Head Coach for youth programs affiliated with the UW Badgers Soccer Program and Davidson Men’s Soccer, supervising and mentoring 20+ participants in structured day and overnight environments. My tutoring style is patient, encouraging, and individualized to each student’s goals — whether academic growth, test preparation, or athletic development.

I have a strong academic background in general biology, with particular strengths in molecular and cellular biology, ecology, and both general and organic chemistry. During high school, I completed advanced coursework in environmental science, biotechnology, calculus, and chemistry, providing me with a solid foundation to support learners across all STEM subjects! I am also pursuing a career in dentistry, and I am especially excited to share my passion for healthcare. I would love to help motivate and guide students who are considering pre-health paths, whether that means strengthening their science foundation, building strong study habits, or simply talking through goals and next steps.  I am also passionate about the arts and have taken multiple drawing and painting courses at Davidson. I am happy to work with students interested in developing their artistic skills alongside their academics. My tutoring and mentoring experience includes active involvement with Davidson’s Girls in STEM club, where I teach lessons and lead hands-on science experiments for 4th and 5th-grade girls each week. I have also delivered lessons for K-5 students through my high school Spanish program, and regularly tutored my younger siblings and classmates during my free time! Outside the classroom, I played field hockey throughout high school and now enjoy being a part of Davidson’s club lacrosse team. Athletics have taught me discipline, teamwork, and perseverance, and I love bringing that same positive energy and encouragement mindset into my tutoring sessions.  I’m truly excited to share my love for STEM and the arts with my students. Above all, I want the students I work with to develop confidence in themselves and their abilities. My goal is to create a supportive, encouraging space where they feel comfortable asking questions, taking on challenges, and growing academically and personally.

Hi! My name is Yahya, and I am a student at Davidson College (Class of 2029) majoring in Economics with a minor in Data Science. My strongest area is K–12 math, where I help students master everything from foundational arithmetic to Algebra, Geometry, and Pre‑Calculus. I focus on breaking down challenging concepts into simple, understandable steps and teaching students how to approach problems strategically rather than memorizing procedures. I also tutor computer science (Scratch, Python, digital literacy), where I help students connect mathematical thinking to coding and real‑world applications. I have extensive tutoring experience across multiple settings. At Code Ninjas, I taught students the foundations of programming, logic, and game development, helping them build confidence with technology while strengthening their mathematical thinking. At The Tutoring Center, I provided one‑on‑one academic support in math, reading, writing, and study skills, adapting lessons to each student’s learning style. I also work as an online tutor, supporting students in math and computer science through personalized sessions that focus on clarity, structure, and confidence‑building. Outside academics, I enjoy playing basketball, tennis, and soccer, and I have experience coaching youth soccer, which has taught me how to motivate students, build their confidence, and help them grow through consistent practice. I’m also an avid reader and enjoy supporting students in creative writing and enrichment activities. As a tutor, my goal is to help students feel confident, capable, and curious—especially in math. I love watching students go from “I don’t get this” to “I can do this,” and I’m committed to creating a supportive environment where they can thrive academically and personally.

Hi! My name is Lila, and I am currently a first-year at Davidson College. I am an intended biology major on a pre-medicine track with a possible minor in Hispanic Studies. I offer tutoring in a wide range of subjects for any k-12 student.  My strongest subjects are in the science and English fields, but I am comfortable tutoring in most subjects. I am currently pursuing a career as a surgeon and am very excited to continue taking STEM classes. In high school, I took all the general science classes and am very comfortable tutoring students in all of these classes. In addition, I also took AP Biology and received a 5 on this test, so I am comfortable tutoring for this exam as well. I took microbiology, general psychology, and an anatomy & physiology class through a dual enrollment with a community college during my junior and senior years which have helped to build my foundation through all the science classes. I am currently taking an Introduction to Chemistry this semester at Davidson and completed an Introduction to Biology: Evolution, Ecology, & Physiology. On the math side of STEM, I completed AP statistics in high school and received a 4 on the exam so I am comfortable with the basics of this coursework. In addition, I am currently taking an Introduction to Calculus this year at Davidson, so I would be comfortable tutoring students in both pre-calculus and calculus.   I have tutoring experience in many different forms. I was a big sister in the Big Brothers and Sisters of America program for two years. In this program, I worked with the same student, a second/third grader, for the duration of my time. I would work through her homework with her, helping to break down problems and provide new strategies for solving problems. In my high school, I worked as a tutor for two years at my high school. In this setting, I helped any high school student with any homework, classwork, test corrections, or anything else they needed help with. I help students with assignments from every class in any grade, but people mainly come to me for help with their chemistry work, Spanish work, or essay writing. In addition to this tutoring, I have also been a babysitter and a Sunday school teacher for around four to five years now. This helps show that I am very comfortable working with and helping students of all ages.  Outside of the classroom, I am a tour guide, a member of the pre-med society on campus, and am a member of the Davidson craft club. All of these activities have allowed me to continue doing activities I love while at college. Being a tour guide allows me to share my love of Davidson College with others and gives me a good foundation of knowledge about our school. The pre-medicine society gives me connections with opportunities that allow me to work and volunteer in the healthcare field. The craft club allows me to be creative and make whatever I desire.  I am very excited to be your tutor! I believe the most important part of tutoring is patience and understanding of one another. Due to this, I am willing to meet anyone where they are and discover the strategies that will give you the help and confidence you need in any subject.
