My name is Evan, and I am a freshman at the College of William & Mary, double-majoring in Finance and Economics, with an expected graduation date of May 2029. I am a patient and approachable tutor who focuses on helping students build both confidence and a strong conceptual understanding of their coursework. I have prior tutoring experience working with college students in intermediate microeconomics and principles of macroeconomics, where I helped reinforce core theory, problem-solving techniques, and exam preparation strategies. I attended St. John’s School, a top-ranked K–12 private school known for its academic rigor, which prepared me well for demanding quantitative and analytical coursework. In addition to academics, I am actively involved on campus through the Baptist Collegiate Ministry (BCM), the Sailing Club, and the Financial Modeling Club, where I continue to strengthen my leadership, collaboration, and analytical skills. During high school, I accumulated over 1,500 hours working in my school’s theater program, contributing as a lighting designer, stage manager, backstage crew member, and in other technical roles. This experience strengthened my ability to communicate clearly, manage complex responsibilities, and work effectively under pressure. I scored a 34 on the ACT, including a 35 in Math, and earned strong AP scores across math, economics, and statistics. I am passionate about tutoring math, economics, statistics, and history, and I enjoy breaking down complex topics into clear, intuitive steps while adapting my teaching style to each student’s learning needs. I take pride in being reliable, supportive, and genuinely invested in helping students succeed academically.

Hi! I am a senior Chemistry major and Mathematics minor at the College of William & Mary, and I offer tutoring in chemistry and mathematics at the middle school and high school levels. Chemistry is my primary focus, and I also tutor math subjects such as algebra, statistics, precalculus, and calculus. Additionally, I am comfortable supporting students in physics and general science courses as needed. I have experience as a teaching assistant for a college-level chemistry course, where I developed strong skills in breaking down complex concepts into clear, accessible explanations tailored to individual learning styles. My approach emphasizes conceptual understanding, problem-solving strategies, and building student confidence, particularly for students who feel intimidated by STEM subjects. In addition to academics, I could also offer instruction in softball and baseball skills, including batting, catching, softball pitching, fielding, and overall game strategy. I have played softball throughout my life and served as President of the Club Softball Team at William & Mary, gaining leadership and coaching experience. My goal as a tutor is to help students build confidence in their chemistry and math abilities, develop effective study habits, and approach challenging material with clarity and self-assurance. Along with this, I hope to keep chemistry fun, as I know it can seem daunting to many.

Hello! I’m Bell, a freshman at the College of William and Mary. My plan is to major in human health and physiology, minor in biochemistry, while pursuing the pre-med track. I have a heavy STEM background, both from my prior coursework and research experience through the Governor’s School for Science and Technology. My strongest areas are biology, chemistry, anatomy, and math up to Algebra II/Trig. I am also willing to assist in English and writing subjects! I have three years of formal K-12 tutoring experience, along with additional volunteer tutoring throughout my high school career. My approach to tutoring focuses on reinforcing student strengths and helping them gain confidence in areas where they struggle. STEM topics especially can be very difficult, so I want to assure students that it’s okay if they make mistakes or don't understand something right away. I love guiding students to their “lightbulb moment”, when everything finally clicks. Outside of academics, I am a creative person with experience in graphic design and portfolio development for 2D-Design and traditional art. I enjoy helping students better their artistic portfolios through supportive critiques and practical tips.

Hi! My name is Henry, and I am passionate about nature, animals, and art, and enjoy painting, reading, playing tennis, and watching movies during the weekends (when I am not studying)... Until 3rd Grade, I was homeschooled by my dad, who taught me with a chalkboard and his undivided attention every morning. This one-on-one teaching method engaged me with a variety of subjects from taxonomy and geometry to art history and Latin. When I entered public schools, I had to adjust to large class sizes and unpersonalized lesson plans, which was difficult for me at first. However, with help from my parents and some individual sessions with my teacher, I quickly began to excel in the new environment. Then, as I progressed into high school, I joined my high school’s science quizbowl team, which I was hesitant to participate in at first. But with the kind encouragement from upperclassmen on the team, I began to enjoy each practice and eventually became team Captain. After these experiences, I realized that many students face similar struggles with large group learning, especially in intimidating academic environments. However, an encouraging older voice means everything. It was then that I began tutoring students in science as part of Science National Honor Society and helping younger students prepare for the SAT. Now, I want to continue to share the knowledge that so many other people helped me acquire and give younger students the same confidence that my mentors instilled in me. Whether it is in challenging STEM courses, or general academic assistance, I am devoted to cultivating the remarkable scholastic success that every student is capable of.

I enjoy helping students learn, build confidence, and feel more comfortable with their schoolwork. I have over three years of teaching and tutoring experience working with students in math, reading, writing, and science. I have a patient, supportive teaching style focused on breaking concepts down into simple, manageable steps, and I adapt how I explain things to each student's learning style. Abby

College of William & Mary, Class of 2027, majoring in Biology and Chemistry

Tutoring subjects:

Chemistry or Biology including APs

Math up to AP Calc AB

Basketball

SAT Prep

Test results:

SAT: 1510 (Math 780, English 730)

AP Scores: Biology (5), Calculus AB (5), Chemistry (5), Physics (5)

Hi! My name is Abby, and I am a chemistry and biology double major at the College of William and Mary. I am passionate about tutoring in STEM fields and would love to help students with subjects such as chemistry, biology, physics, and math at the middle school or high school level. After college, I hope to get a masters in education for science to eventually teach high school chemistry or biology. Ever since high school I have had a passion for helping students understand the science I enjoy so much and hope to continue doing that now. I believe that understanding any subject or concept is possible and that the best way to tutor someone is to go into it with that mindset. My goal is to both get the student to understand the material and grow their confidence in themselves by never viewing content as impossible. I truly believe that if content hasn't clicked yet it just means more time and different strategies are needed to tackle it, and that there is nothing wrong with that. Through tutoring, I hope to help the student learn that learning is different for everyone and that I am here to help figure out what the best method is for them. Outside of school, I am part of Alpha Phi Omega, a service fraternity focused on the goals of leadership, friendship, and service. As part of this, I volunteer in multiple places around the Williamsburg area and have a passion for giving back to the community. A lot of this volunteering revolves around being outdoors, which is something that is very important to me. I love the outdoors whether it be hiking, gardening, or playing basketball at the park. Often when I am learning I try to make connections between the things I love and the material, particularly connecting the natural world outside the classroom to what I am learning in it. I hope by tutoring, I can also help encourage these connections within the student to foster great growth in learning.
